On Sunday, May 4, 2025, a special session was convened at the University of Zakho, attended by Prof. Dr. Diyar Abdulkareem Saeed, President of the University, and Dr. Dindar Shamsaddin Bray, Director General of Scientific Research Centers, along with several deans from various colleges.

The session, organized by the Applied Remote Sensing and GIS (CARS&GIS) Center in collaboration with the Department of Environmental Sciences, College of Science, was dedicated to introducing and coordinating a specialized GIS Mapping Workshop.

The workshop is being led by Prof. Dr. Yaseen Taha Mustafa and Mr. Wasfi Haji Sulaiman, both representing the ARS&GIS Center. Spanning three days, the program features both theoretical and hands-on training sessions designed to equip participants with a robust understanding of GIS and their practical applications.
